Image of Sheila Sochovka Holding NC Educator of Excellence AwardCongratulation Mrs. Sheila Sochovka! Your Trojan Family is very proud of you!

Cumberland County Schools is proud to announce that long-time educator Sheila Sochovka, who is an Exceptional Children’s (EC) teacher at several district schools, was recently named a North Carolina Educator of Excellence by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s Exceptional Children’s Division.
The announcement came during a special dinner at the annual Exceptional Children’s Conference in Greensboro from Nov. 20 – 22. One EC educator from each district was selected to be honored during the annual gathering. Sochovka, who has worked with elementary and secondary EC students across the county for over 15 years, was applauded for “going above and beyond” for her students.

“Ms. Sochovka has a heart for children,” said Dr. Pamela Adams-Watkins, the executive director of CCS’ Exceptional Children’s Services. “She is an advocate for children … She is always thinking of innovative ways in which to engage her students in her social skills lessons from the use of technology to hand-made games. Sheila Sochovka is a valuable asset to Cumberland County Schools and we are fortunate to have her on our team.”
