Clubs and Organizations

Student Clubs and Organizations at PFHS offer the opportunity to be involved in many different ways – on campus, and in the community. The purpose of these is to provide co-curricular programs, engagement opportunities, personal development, and support services to all PFHS students, enabling them to develop globally relevant lifelong skills and graduate. Our greatest treasure lies in the leadership abilities of our students.

Academy of Scholars – AOS

Art Club

Book Club

Campus Life

Chess Club

Additional Information: Chess Club is a social group that focuses people and the development of higher critical thinking skills.

Dance Team

Distributive Education Clubs of America – DECA

Additional Information: DECA provides unparalleled opportunities to:

  • Association of Marketing Students
  • Develop leadership and business skills beyond what the classroom can provide
  • Explore a variety of career fields, such as fashion, finance, marketing, hospitality & tourism, sports & entertainment and entrepreneurship
  • Network with businesspeople who can influence your future career
  • Receive international recognition in competitive events

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America – FCCLA

  • Develop personal growth, leadership development, and career preparation opportunities for students through Family and Consumer Sciences education. We focus on the multiple roles of family members, wage earners, and community leaders.
  • Members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.
  • Explore a variety of career fields, such as fashion, culinary, foods, hospitality & tourism, child care and development, interior design, and entrepreneurship.
  • Network with students and people in the different business fields who can influence your future career.
  • Receive recognition both state, nationally through competitive events.
  • Create friendships with people from all across North America and beyond at career/leadership conferences held in exciting locations.
  • Build a substantial college application and a résumé that attests to their abilities and accomplishments.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

Meeting Dates & Times:  Every Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the Main Gym
Additional Information:  You do not have to be an athlete or on a team to attend.  All are welcome!

Future Business Leaders of America – FBLA
Advisor: Mrs. Paige Slider
Meeting Dates & Times: 1st and 3rd Wednesday after school
Additional Information: Leadership organization for business students.

Future Farmers of America – FFA
Advisor: Brittany Maxfield
Meeting Dates & Times: Second Wednesday of each month.
Additional Information: The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more. For this reason, the name of the organization was updated in 1988 after a vote of national convention delegates to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture. Today, the National FFA Organization remains committed to the individual student, providing a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.

Gamer’s Haven
Meeting times twice a month on Friday from 3:45 – 5:00 PM
Schedules are available in room 110.
Gamer’s Haven in a place where students can connect with others and play games.  All gamer’s welcome, board games, card games, strategy games and video games.  Everyone is welcome.  This is a no bullying zone.

Green Team
Advisor: Mr. Linwood Starling
Meeting Dates & Times: Tuesdays and Thursdays in room 220 from 3:45-5:00
Additional Information: The Green Team provides the recycling program for the school along with competing in a nation recycling contest.

HOPE (Helping Others through Positive Encouragement)
Advisor: Mrs. Jill Austin
Meeting Dates & Times: Every other Friday from 3:45-5:15 in room 108.
Additional Information: Our mission is to promote anti-bullying, anti-suicide, and anti-all negativity while encouraging positive values in students and staff.  We are involved in various activities throughout the school year, both at Pine Forest and in our community, and work actively to spread positivity.  Everyone is welcome! National Art Honor Society

National Honor Society

Additional Information: NHS is a Service organization in which juniors and seniors with a 4.0 weighted grade point average (GPA), exemplary character, and leadership skills are invited to join. membership by invitation. New members are invited to join in the spring. NHS-selected Soph or Jr year, must have weighted 4.0 GPS and complete selection packet. NHS webpage

National Technology Honor Society

Additional Information: The National Technical Honor Society currently serves approximately 100,000 active members and nearly a million members since its inception in 1984. Awarding over $1.7 million in scholarships to date, NTHS honors the achievements of top CTE students, provides scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education, and cultivates excellence in today’s highly competitive, skilled workforce. NTHS helps schools recognize students for their achievement in career and technical education.

‘Odyssey of Sound’ Marching Band and ‘Odyssey of Jazz’ Jazz Ensemble

SANDRA – Sign Language Club
Advisor:  Alda Midgette

Additional Information:  The historical and legendary Pine Forest High School Sign Language Club (Sandra) is founded by Alda Midgette and inspired by Mrs. Sandra E. Midgette, a retired computer science high school teacher and certified national interpreter for the deaf.
Sandra seeks to enhance the culture of sign language by incorporating it as a universal language that strengthens communication by listening in many ways.
Sandra loves to welcome positive-minded individuals to participate and contribute to broadening the awareness and knowledge of the deaf culture, as it strives to be an enriching education outlet for our deaf and our non-deaf students.

Science Olympiad
Advisor: Mrs. Shannon Shurko
Meeting Dates & Times: Every Wednesday after school from Mid-September until competition.
Additional Information: Science Olympiad is an American team competition in which students compete in 23 ‘events’ pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering. Over 7,800 middle school and high school teams from 50 U.S. states compete each year.

Additional Information: SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers, and industry working together to ensure that America has a skilled workforce.  We help every student excel.  SkillsUSA is a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that is recognized as an integral part of the classroom by the OVAE. A non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, SkillsUSA is committed to using its resources to provide its members with the greatest opportunities to succeed.  From industry-designed competitions to professional and leadership development workshops, SkillsUSA gives students an opportunity to enhance both their technical and employability skills. Started in 1965 as V.I.C.A. (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America), SkillsUSA has served nearly 12 million members in its 50-year history.  Currently, more than 300,000 members participate annually in SkillsUSA.

Spanish Club

Speech and Debate Club (Forensics)

Additional Information: This club competes in local, state and regional competitions in both.

Student Government Association (SGA)
Advisor:  Mrs. Paige Slider
Meeting Dates & Times: Wednesday mornings at 8:00 a.m., during 3rd period.
Additional Information: SGA participates in 1. Activities that develop self-awareness and confidence in students. 2. Opportunities for students to positively impact their peers, school, district, and community. 3. Leadership opportunities at the district, state, regional, and national levels. 4. Creation and implementation of student activities.  Some activities include Plan Homecoming/Coming Home,  and Dances.

Student 2 Student (S2S)
